Welcome to Baby Proofed Parents, a free online resource for maintaining your sanity – before, during and after your baby’s arrival… and beyond.
As parents, we go to great lengths to prepare for new babies: we learn how to swaddle, breastfeed and baby-proof everything. As they grow, we’re hyper-focused on helping our children develop and stay healthy. What gets lost in the shuffle? Our own personal wellness. The best gift you can give your child is an emotionally stable parent who is maintaining strong relationships. At Baby Proofed Parents, we offer an abundance of resources to empower you, remind you of your strength and help you take on the challenges and triumphs of parenting.
Who We Are: BPP was founded in 2013 by two Licensed Professional Counselors, Kirsten Brunner & Cheryl Sipkowski. They share a passion for delivering sanity-saving and relationship-strengthening tools that new parents don’t always get in their childbirth classes. While Cheryl has re-focused her efforts on expanding their private practice, Kirsten has continued to develop the Baby Proof Parents philosophy, blog and workshop series.
Kirsten Brunner, MA, LPC lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, two sons, a dog and a hermit crab. She has been actively providing therapy and life coaching for 18 years, first in a corporate setting and now in a private practice. Kirsten is a regular contributor to Huffington Post, Scary Mommy and TODAY Parents. Her writing has also been featured on Mamalode and Real Simple Magazine. She works with clients, in person and over Skype, on a wide variety of issues, but has enjoyed becoming a Reproductive & Perinatal Mental Health Specialist in recent years.
Who BPP Helps: If you are contemplating pregnancy or adoption, already pregnant, in the throws of life with a new baby, a mother of 5, a father-to-be, married, single, a same-sex couple… you get it… and Baby Proofed Parents is here to support you with tools and resources to strengthen your sanity and relationships.
What BPP Offers: Our goal is to empower parents by reminding them of their strength and resilience. We provide workshops for expecting and new parents who want to fortify their emotional health and parenting partnerships. We also provide ongoing support on this website in the form of tips, bits of wisdom and inspiring interviews. All of this is infused with authenticity and transparency.
Why We Do It: We’ve noticed that there is a gaping hole in the parenting-preparedness industry. You can take child-birth, breastfeeding, and infant-care classes, but it is hard to find support for keeping your sanity intact while parenting.
